When Cyndi Lauper says “Girls just wanna have fun”, we think this translates to: “Girls just wanna rock out!” Since this is a true statement like no other, Sunset Community Centre and Moberly Arts and Culture Centre offers Girls Rock Camp Vancouver (GRCV), a program that aims to empower youth through music creation. This fall session of GRCV’s after school program will focus on different musical genres, from rock, country, punk, pop, hip hop, and more, led by local female musicians, as well as workshops in songwriting and merch making (campers will screenprint their own tshirts). Youth will get hands on experience making music in different musical genres while learning the basics of music creation. No musical experience is necessary! All gear is provided.
