Chinese New Year Dance & Cake Demonstration
Jessica Yue
Learn the history, customs, and tradition behind the celebration of the Chinese New Year Festival. Instructor Jessica Yue will first perform Chinese fan, ribbon, handkerchief, and drum classic dances, doing some basic dance moves with participants. Jessica will then show participants how you how to make sesame balls or baked ricecake, also known as “New Year Cake”.

Move, Groove, and Improve is a program focused on active aging and well-being. Participants will engage in physical activities, such as chair yoga. Instruction is in Punjabi and English. We have lots of cloth and hand sewing supplies to share. Campers will be divided into groups that will create a play or puppet show from scratch, as we will write the script, rehearse, and present. This camp will be filled with arts and crafts, including making puppets, props, and set pieces for our show. On the last day, the four groups will present their plays to each other, which will be followed by our very own Oscar ceremony!

Moberly Writers and Storytellers: Stone Soup (50+ yrs)

Stone Soup is a community-focused project that will create a feast of stories and food. Participants will be encouraged to share stories, memories, and recipes that will be put together into a community cookbook anthology. Each month there will be guest artists, cooking lessons led by guest chefs and the participants, building up to a grand feast open to everyone.
