Land Based Emancipation Day Celebration
August 4, 10am – 1pm

To commemorate Emancipation Day, the day when slavery was abolished in Canada and across the “British Empire”, join us in the garden for a land-based celebration on Sunday, August 4th from 2pm-5pm! Participants will be led in an Afro-Caribbean plant walk, harvest dye plants including indigo, and get a chance to work with fresh indigo, amaranth and/or marigold natural dyes. There will be a performance of original music in an acoustic set in the garden, and a light picnic lunch will be served.
