The Artists in Communities project has launched a Call to Artists for 2019 residencies, and we’d like to share that opportunity with you! Having experience with the Artists in Communities project, we can vouch for how important it is to connect artists with communities to help the people of Vancouver discover their artistic selves and contribute to meaningful artistic engagement. How we review your application
The Vancouver Park Board Artists in Communities program builds community by making art together using principles of community cultural development.
Residencies each year are hosted in participating community centres to support artists working in neighbourhoods and encourage a wide variety of interactions between artists and residents, who may not view themselves as creators or performers.
The residency projects leave lasting physical or social legacies in the community, such as learning new creative processes, developing collaborative skills, or creating an artwork.
Open to artists and artist teams working in any and all disciplines and living in Metro Vancouver
